Search engines change. You've probably noticed that whenever something in your search field, you get more than the usual list of results, provide a map with links to his side.

At Google, the map is called "A box" and the links next to him are called "10-Pack" and clearly, the links are different there than in the regular "Bio" listed below. While traditional SEO (content and number of links) contributes to the organic, which contributes in a box and 10-pack? Help Yourself

You do not need an expert to help you create and claim your ads. In fact, it is best if you do it for yourself.

During the life of your business, you can update your site several times – at least 3-5 every year – and you can work with different companies in different generations of your website, but some things must always remain under your control. I'm not saying you should not get help from experts, but we should be in control of your name domain, you may also want to check your local listings.

Choose your battles …

There are so many IYPS local directories choose! Here are some ways to find the best for you:

• Where is the competition the list?

  From Google Maps, find competitors, click on "more information", then click the Web Sites "tab. You can find other places to add your listing.

• Where are you located?

  IYPS Many still rely on basic data used in their printed telephone directories, which means that all are not relevant in all places. If the company does not have a phone in their region (DEX), can not be possible to manage your ad on your site.

Get organized

Create lists or claim in all these places must create accounts in many places. I recommend keeping a spreadsheet with all connection information for all of its AIP and directory listings.

Maintain consistency

It is ideal for all your ads is the same, if not identical. This will help search engines know that each listing is yours. Of course the name of the company is exactly the same in each ad. You may find that your business does not fit easily in all categories (ours are often not). This may be because they use "Standard Industrial Classification (SIC). It seems that these classifications have not been updated in a while …

Add Logos, images, videos, certificates, etc.

Where possible, improve the list as much information as possible. Today Many travel sites allow you to add a lot of things that your ads. Our recommendation: add them all. Send your logo, add descriptions, keywords hours, payment methods, and everything you can imagine. More is better.

Delete Duplicates

This step may take some time. If there are multiple ads in an AIP for your company, a claim and request that another withdrew. These requests often take weeks to process. But it is important. I do not want to confuse the search engines with more than one list at one of IYPS.

Why I can not do everything in one one place?

Presumably, this is now possible. It is called the Universal Declaration Business Listing. The idea is that you manage your local list here, and send information databases around. I count 44 different partners, including some that let you manage your list directly, as Acxiom. The downside? It costs $ 30.

What is next?

Configuration and administration of local programming is not a step in the process. It may take weeks to eliminate duplication and to obtain feedback. In fact, having its greatest fans comments for you to become an ongoing process that you always in the back of his mind. You can even find creative ways to give incentive to give a good (but honest) comments.

BONUS: Yellow Pages … Anecdote

Back in the day, AT & T heavily marketed the term "Yellow Pages" and the walking fingers logo. But never filed a trademark application, it is public domain. What Verizon Smartphones use Windows Mobile 7 with Wi-Fi?

I need Wi-Fi & I’ve heard good things about Windows Mobile 7, a larger touch screen would be great too!

Need it for my clients to show results of internet Business Name searches while in the field. I’m using Page Plus Cellular which can use almost any Verizon phone (same signal) except they don’t allow the iPhone yet, but at 1/3 the cost! Just hard to find a good Verizon phone that has these details.

I’ve been searching and only find 2010 press releases which say it will be sometime in 2011…it’s already May 2011 and no news! I called Verzon Wireless just now and got nowhere…ugh!

At the moment, Verizon Wireless does not carry any Windows 7 Mobile cell phones. It is very likely they will start having Windows 7 Mobile cell phones in the future. At the moment only A T&T and T-Mobile have Windows 7 Mobile.
