What taxes do I need to file for my small business?
I am helping a friend with a small business he recently started Nov. 2009. He has no overhead, no employees, & he has charged each customer sales tax. He would like to purchase Quick-Books for this business as well. Right now his main concern is just to be straight on paying all necessary taxes. So my question(s) is: What do we need to do to pay his taxes? Do we pay the state comptroller as well as quarterly business taxes? What is the difference? This is a VERY small business which is very cut & dry. Can we get all necessary forms needed to file online or do we NEED to go to a CPA / H&R block? Please advise… Thanks in advance!

He does have a tax ID# & is in business w/ another man. However, neither of them draw pay from the funds. All the “profit” is just sitting in a bank until they are straight w/ the gov / IRS.
If you are an S-Corporation:
File forms, Sales tax returns in Illinois form ST-1, state revenue department takes care of that, you can contact your local state department for that. If no employees, no payroll tax. If you as an officer worked at the corporation must file payroll tax returns for the minimum salary requirement. By March 15 file form 1120S
If you have only DBA:
File forms ST-1, sales tax, then report all income and expenses on Schedule C by April 15, 2009.
