I want to create a restaurant franchise. What is the best way to start?
I have a wonderful idea restaurant. I have huge potential customer base of this idea, which is 20-60 million Americans who have special dietary needs are not addressed in any menu I've seen. Basically, I have the concepts of menu items, which I think really helped this group of people. I do not want to run the restaurant, especially because I've never worked in one and not give up my day job. There are so many millions of people can be helped by the ideas I have, but it is difficult to know where to start. Basically, I want to be paid for my intellectual property, so it was looking at the idea of selling franchises. I do not know where to start. "I can sell a menu, or if you need a business plan? How can I run my ideas without being stolen? Do not look for a type of investment, or do I can take a loan small businesses? What is the best tone of someone who does not really want to run the restaurant?
Hi Liz! As directed, the process of owning and operating a restaurant is very involved and has a significant amount of experience. There are, of course, Restaurant groups (like "Lettuce Entertain You," among others) are affected, use and management of hundreds of franchises across world … and maybe one of them might be interested in starting a franchise based on their ideas. The first step, of course, is remember their ideas in a tangible form of expression. "It is a legal term which basically means you need to write their ideas and make that paper and your head. Once we write, they are yours and automatically have a copyright on them. The next step would create a business model around these ideas. You must be able to show people that the management of your idea is good … that would be of interest for much of the population … and how to be different from what is already available. A business plan is the most common method to explain these details. There is even a variety of business schools across the country (check your local college that offers an MBA program to be sure) that students who need practice writing business plans and helps sometimes without charge. With its business plan established, and after the exercise of its "tone", she would be willing to sell his idea to the management company. To protect yourself and your ideas, you want to have a non-disclosure agreement (NDA), prepared and signed by you and the manager (s) to talk before sharing their ideas. The NDA, we mean that each can share confidential information of another and that the exchange did not give the party receiving the opportunity use the idea without compensating elsewhere. Hopefully, if the tone goes well, the management company will love the idea and want used as a means of creating a new restaurant franchise. Otherwise, you can always look outside investors and experienced restaurateurs and try open the first restaurant with his new menu … but it is much more likely … but may actually be easier to achieve. Good luck!
