How to Write A Simple Business Plan: Identifying the Market
Proving the market for a business is an extremely important first step for a business plan.
Market Size
The market size must be significant enough that the business will be able to thrive, even if competitors enter the market and take some market share. For example, being a specialty book store in a small town may not be successful if the potential customers number only in the hundreds. Use demographic data to show the market size either based on geography or other aspects.
Customer Need Not Being Met
Next, it must be shown that there is a need in this customer market that is not being met. This could be a group using a certain product or service which is not entirely satisfying the need or a group currently using a substitute product. In any case, the problem must be important enough that the customers would be pay for a solution. With the advent of the web, this payment can be with their attention, as when customers frequenting a website without paying a dime. In this case, the business model may be to meet the needs of a third party (advertisers) by providing them a means to reach this group by buying ads on the site. To be financial feasible, the value of solving the need must be greater than the cost of providing the solution.
Competitors Not Positioned To Act
Finally, you should also show that the top competitors are not, for one reason or another, best positioned to act on this unmet need. This could be because they serve customers with different values or are solving a slightly different problem, for example. The competitive analysis should talk of the strengths and weaknesses of competitors with a focus on how your business can exploit those weaknesses to its advantage.

Why do you believe that taxes are the problem?
If wages had kept up with production in this country the medium income wold be $60,000 instead of $40.000.
Henry Ford was asked why he payed his workers so much, and he replied “so they can buy my cars.” Some how this simple concept has been lost on the business community.
You lower taxes for the middle class and another branch of goverment (state, federal, and local ) raise fees. Texas is a prime example of this, just look into thier plans for toll roads: which are a tax in disguise, and the money pulled out of this will not go into the public coffers, it will go to investers who are granted a monopoly.
The heads of corporations are over compensated i.e. over a 190 million doller retirement package for the retiring CEO. of Exxon Mobil.
EVERY NATION THAT HAS FAILED TO MAINTAIN A VIBRANT MIDDLE CLASS HAS FALLEN. Learn your history, or are we to wait until the peasants are in the streets with pitch forks, and torches, while the 1st lady says “let them eat cake”.
Richard, this is right, I had noticed this before now, I was reading in a document where there is a breakdown of the economy, it just goes in a cycle! In all societies, there is a distance that forms between the wages we get, and the price of things to buy, pretty soon, we will have to spend a whole weeks check, just to buy a loaf of bread! The economy will completely break down, just like the depression of the 30’s, The only way we can pull out of it is to go back to the “barter” system, and raise our own food, and eliminate money altogether!
And I agree with you, that politicians, and heads of corporations are over compensated!
It is in the history books, I’ve seen it also, but no body is paying attention, until it hits!!
