Read Business Magazines Online
read business magazines online

I’m Starting a Magazine Company, but we are NOT going to start…continued under details..see below…?
…printing the actual magazine for another year…we are first starting off as an ONLINE magazine, that will be free for everyone to read so that we can get a better base before printing the actual magazine. If we are not charging anyone, do we still need to get a business license? or should we wait until we have more money and when we ask for money….ALSO, if we have a section for donations…is that okay. Thanks for your help in advance!
You don’t need a business license to operate an online magazine. I have an online magazine, and we have never been required to get a license.
But you can register the business, which is a different process from getting a business license. You register your business with your local county/city clerk’s office if you are a sole proprietor. If you are a partnership or corporation or LLC, you register with your Secretary of State.
Part of the business registration process is the filing of your DBA or doing business as, or assumed name or fictitious business name if the name of your business is different from your given name.
I highly recommend that you decide on the legal structure of your business (sole proprietorship, LLC, C Corp, S Corp, or partnership) and register your business. It just defines your business, plus the audience you will be able to attract as an online magazine can identify and trust your business.
Section for donations — it just smacks of desperation. Too neophyte and makes you look like a very small operation (unless of course you’d rather show that you are a barebones operation — remember, the beauty of the Web is that it can allow you to project a bigger image through your site design and content. People don’t have to know that this is a 1 person operation). It doesn’t bode well in terms of building credibility. Do you see Entrepreneur Magazine with a donation box? Do you see Fortune Magazine with a donation box?
I suggest you start earning through advertising. There are a lot of ways you can monetize your content, without begging for donation. That way, you can build your business and earn in the process to allow you to start your print version (or even stick with the online version if revenues become significant).
If you are building a magazine, you’d want readers to TRUST you to give them the information you provide. That means showing the readers that you can actually provide the information — meaning someone is doing the writing, editing, layouting, etc. They don’t have to know that only 1 or 2 people are doing everything — but if you have a donation box, then it really shows that you may not be capable to provide them with the info they need.

Zone Read Play (DVD) $39.99 With Brian Hughes,C.W. Post College Assistant Coach/Offensive CoordinatorThis DVD captures zone blocking combinations derived from the drive block progression and how the zone read play is installed. The zone read play is a double option play that has evolved through the years. The C.W. Post staff has gone to zone plays because of multiple defensive fronts and formations. The zone concept also provides a solid foundation for offensive lineman, and allows for multiple backfield alignments. The last advantage is that by teaching drive blocking, every scheme is covered against every front. The theory is that by making the defense slide horizontally creates creases vertically. Two consistencies are evident in this scheme. One, the back must cross the face of the quarterback, and the aiming point adjusts to tighter to the butt of the guard. After snap from center, the quarterback flips his hips and establishes the line of vision to the defender outside the tackle. The running back aligns himself to the angle of the attack after dropping a heel for timing. The offensive line has simple rules for the zone read. Against a 4-2 defense, the covered/uncovered rule comes into play. The read for the quarterback will be determined after the snap when facing the 3-3 defense. Coach Hughes uses practice footage to demonstrate the footwork and fundamentals needed. Zone block progression includes head up, inside and outside before adding the linebacker in. Drills are run 2-on-1 or 2-on-2 to stress these techniques. These zone combo drills work on technique as well as the scheme used. The zone read play game tape helps you to see the scheme in game action. This DVD combines philosophy, technique and game footage to increase your knowledge of the zone read play. By applying the teaching on this presentation you can quickly elevate the level of your offensive play. 39 minutes. 2006. |
