How Outsourcing To The Philippines Can Help Your Business
According to an article in business week, the Philippines is on target to grow its business process outsourcing revenues to $13 billion, and provide jobs for 650,000, by the end of 2010. So, what exactly are the advantages of outsourcing to the Philippines that have made it a first choice outsourcing solution for businesses across the globe?
- Available Skills Match Industry Needs
About a quarter of Filipino graduates are qualified for business-related jobs like accounting and marketing. Additionally, many of these professionals have had extra customer service training. The skills available in this pool of professionals match the needs of many U.S. businesses.
- Lower Costs
Outsourcing to the Philippines can save a business as much as 30-40% in operational expenses. This is huge savings for small and medium-sized companies especially. Here is something worth taking note of – the minimum wage rate in the U.S. is about $8 per hour; in the Philippines it is $8 a day!
- Language
First and foremost is the ability to speak English well and have no foreign sounding accent. This is of the utmost importance for many businesses. Its success has been so stellar that industry players estimate India has lost around 100,000 call center jobs to the Philippines due to its “high-quality voice skills” and status as the third-largest English-speaking nation in the world.
- High Levels of Literacy, Skills and Education
The Philippine government places high priority on education and this is evident in the high 92.6 percent literacy rate (per CIA figures). The Philippines produces about half a million college graduates every year. This means that there is a significant pool of talented and highly-educated professionals available to choose from.
- Shared History And Matching Cultures
Did you know that the Philippines were the first colony of the U.S.? For nearly 50 years (1898-1946) the Philippines was governed according to an American system. During this period, the country was exposed to American language, education, politics and cultural values. To this date, many Filipinos are keenly aware of what is happening in America in sports, politics, fashion, etc.
- Good Work Attitudes
Countries in the Middle East and in Europe give high preference to Filipino workers because they are honest, well disciplined, and hard working. Many countries hiring delegations to the Philippines on a regular basis to select workers for their local businesses. These testaments show that Filipinos are not only hard-working, but that they are trustworthy and can also be relied on to produce the results expected of them.
- High Internet Usage Among Filipinos
Internet usage among Filipinos is high. The country has a 25% Internet penetration rate compared to 7% in India. The Internet and telecommunications industry in the Philippines is growing at a very fast pace because of the huge demand for internet access. It is expected that internet literacy among Filipinos will continue to grow at brisk pace.
So, if your company is looking to outsource any part of your operations overseas, hopefully you will now be of the mindset that the Philippines is the first place that you should look to.

Asain, Islander, Filipino.. Id say we are just filipino What do you think?
I have heard many many many things about us being Asian and also islander. I have came to a conclusion that we are just FILIPINO! why you ask? yeah just because we are located on the SE Asia doesnt make us asain! Our poeple are saying that our culture was influenced by ASAIN? i believe not!! yeah we may eat rice.. but mexicans do.. for the most part we dont even have the same dishes as asians. We dont worship the same god, we have different dances, we dress differently.. and so on. yeah some of us looks asain.. but we only did business with them and they EXPLOIT OUR WOMAN! Yeah your thinking Indians and Russians are also LABELED ASAINS.. but its up to them to fight for their own label. Its just a label! it can be changed! it isnt permanent! this why when you go vote or in college take a test on the scantron shitt.. We have our own bubble FILIPINOS! so all yall FILIPINOS be happy you are! Learn your own culture not some other countries shitt! cause if THERES NO HISTORY.. THERE NO SELF
Having been in the Philippines as well as many countries of Asia, I never thought of a Filipino as an islander or Asian.
It’s today’s political culture, for everyone has to be politically correct, and it’s a pain in the butt.
I think your a Filipino, until you tell me otherwise. And–it’s only your right to change it, not the politically correct people.
P.S Loved the Philippines…..great people.
