How do employers really feel about online degrees??
Im looking into a vet.tech. degree from PennFoster the degree is accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association and requires two 9 week practicums. Penn Foster is also fully accredited. While this all sounds good to me and looks good on papers how will this look to future employers?? The woman at the front desk at my vets office got a degree in business management online, and got a job but theres a difference between answering a phone and giving a shot ( no disrespect intended). Have any of you gotten/ not gotten hired, hired or not hired due to an online degree??
I’m not an employer, but I am an educator. As long as your degree is from a legitimate school, they recognize it as good as sitting in a class! Even several Ivy league schools, such as Harvard, etc, have now jumped on the “online bandwagon” for many of their courses. You can check that out for yourself. Most employers who are living in the 21st century, realize that with time restraints, travel restraints, family needs, etc, that it is more logical for people desiring to fulfill their educational goals, be able to do so at their own convenience, such as in their homes, overseas, or mobile with their laptops!
I personally have earned a degree by having a combination of online credits and classroom credits. I have also earned state licenses totally by online courses, which aided in my getting a job! Degrees don’t guarantee you a job, but they give you an advantage over someone who doesn’t have one. Good interview techniques and resume writing are also key elements in landing a job! Go for it!
