Gary M. Harden is a member of the business section of Eastman & Smith Ltd., concentrating his practice in the areas of general business law and executive benefits, and heads up the firm's tax practice.  He has been appointed as a Special Ohio Attorney General and serves two State Universities.

Independently nominated, peer reviewed and listed in Best Lawyers in America consistently since 1995, Ohio Super Lawyers since its inception in 2004, and AV rated by Martindale Hubbell, he has over 25 years of experience in his field.  He actively represents a full range of clients, mostly mid sized and closely held entrepreneurial businesses and individuals in transactions, contracts, finance, organization, syndication, mergers and acquisitions, and executive benefits.  He has significant experience in resolving tax and related controversies, including representation before the Internal Revenue Service local offices and National Office of both taxable and exempt organizations. Mr. Harden has testified and commented on regulations, and in connection with his service on numerous bar association committees, participated in the drafting, review and lobbying of proposed legislation. Since 1998, he has served as a Specialization Board Member for certification of attorneys in the specialty of federal taxation, appointed by Ohio Supreme Court Commission on Specialization. He is a regular speaker and author on tax and business related topics.           

Mr. Harden has earned an LL.M. in taxation from NYU, a J.D. from The University of Toledo College of Law, and a bachelor of business administration, majoring in accounting (1977), from the University of Notre Dame.
