Obviously, if you have had an accident, and you are reading all of this advice, it’s probably been at least a few days since the accident. However, if it’s only been a few hours or if you ever have another accident, here’s what you should do the next time from the start.
First, take a look around and determine if you or anyone, are hurt. If so, taking steps like trying to prevent further injury or loss of blood are the most important thing you can do. Fifth, if you have a camera on your cell phone or in the car and you aren’t too injured, take some photos of the vehicles and the scene. If you can’t do it right away, do it after you are released from the hospital.
Sixth, if you are hurt, obtain medical treatment. Don’t decline the ambulance or hospital examination to save your insurance company money or to be stoic. Take your valuables out of your car if you can and get checked out at the hospital. If you are not hurt, don’t get treatment you don’t need. However, remember, after an accident, you may feel a rush of adrenaline that causes you to only start feeling symptoms of pain a few hours later. If you have a health plan that requires you to obtain permission first, call them and find out where you are allowed to seek treatment.

Can you have two owners names under a sole proprietorship in CA?
I need advice on starting a business. There are two of us who run a DJ business and we would like to get legit. We would like both of our names on the business license as a sole proprietor, is that possible? If its possible to have two owners names under a sole proprietor would I be able to apply for a Federal Tax ID number? Also in California do we need a State Tax ID number? You either have a partnership or 2 sole proprietorships who share resources. Which you are is which you choose to be. If you work and bill individually but share equipment and other resources you might be 2 sole props. If that is the case you do not need a Fed EIN.
If, however, all the facts point to that you really have 1 business then you are a partnership (or LLC, Or Corp or S-Corp.). If you are starting out I suggest NOT creating one of the latter entites until it makes sense to do so for tax, liability, benefits or succession reasons.)
Now a partnership is an entity separate from its partners and thus needs a Federal ID#. Use form SS-4 to apply (I suggest using the online version if you want it immediately). Unless you have employees, CA does not require an ID #for the P’ship.
Re Sales tax, if you sell no goods but only provide a service, sales tax is not applicable and you do not need a resale # form Board of Equalization.
Now you can get a Biz license in the name of the P’ship with both names on it. Also, if the Business name is different than the P’ship name you will need a “Fictitious Business Name” filing with your city or county.
FInally, you need to get clear on who is putting up what assets, how you will split profits and loss, how you will divide assets if you dissolve the P’ship. If you do not, CA law specifies and you might not like it. Also, you need to know that either of you can encumber the other for financial obligations without the other knowing. Be sure you know who you are going into biz with.
