Is it just me, or are SOME realtors/car dealers overly sickening versions of salespeople?
I have an uncle who is a car salesman and he is always “on.” There is never a conversation that doesn’t feel so fake like he’s trying to “work you.” My little brother was in real estate for a while and I swear when he was into it he was a totally different person, even when he was off the clock. It was weird. You don’t see clothes sales people, etc. with their pictures all over their business cards – but why do realtors do that? When you see for sale signs in the yards of homes, why on earth do some realtors have their pictures on the sign? Who gives a ** about seeing their face? I just want the house, not YOU. wtf?
AND, please note that I said SOME, not ALL.
Anytime people are in a position to earn their money through commissions only, they can become obsessed with getting the sale and will do or say anything to get it. Their livelihood is dependent upon closing the deal.
My husband and I were in commission only sales for a lot of years. We saw this constantly. We promised ourselves that we would never be like that. We were honest, genuine, and ourselves at all times. We liked to think that our clients appreciated that.
Commission only sales is VERY stressful and can lead people to extreme behaviors. Don’t judge them too harshly. They are just doing what they think works best to get the sale.
