Is it better to get a real estate loan from a large bank or local bank?
I am trying to get pre-approved for home/business loan and am wondering if I should go to the local bank I have been dealing with for a few years or switch all my money to a large bank and go through them for the loan.
Get bids from both, but generally I try to work with a smaller local bank when I can. It may not be of help to you but tyipcally local banks can work out loans that larger banks can’t.
If you’re just looking at a vanilla home loan it won’t matter but I recently did a large refi of a commerical property and used it to buy other smaller properties. No way a larger bank would have done that.
Wamu (my current, er, former bank) would not do the loan for me so I moved my business to this smaller (Houston) bank.
