Guard dogs………….?
A friend of my has three Dobermans. He has his own business and hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of heavy equipment on his property so the dogs are guard dogs. I’ve seen him say something to them in German and they are “on guard” until he comes back and says another German phrase to them. I have to go over and feed the dogs tonight and never even thought to ask before they left………. since the dogs are now on guard until they get back tomorrow, is it like a service dog that you’re not supposed to bother when they’re working?? Am I just supposed to go and feed them and leave them alone? They know me and I play with them all the time when he is there. I know this is probably stupid but I don’t know anything about guard dogs. Thanks!!
LOL and no, to everybody who asked… my friend and his wife are on a boat and I have no way of getting in touch with them right now.
Wow- what a tough question! Please tell me your friend left you an emergency number to call him- I don’t know if it would be safe for you to walk in there to feed them if they are in ‘guarding’ mode.
Are the dogs behind a fence? If they are, then approach the fence and speak with them- see how they react to you because they know you. However, if they’re loose or behind invisible fence, I think I would rather leave them without food one night then risk ‘crossing the line’ and being mistaken for an intruder.
Call your pal.
